PostboxMap.co.uk
Map Britain’s postboxes, together.
A free, community-driven map of UK postboxes. Spotters, historians, and contributors find boxes near them, log visits, add photos, and record details such as royal cypher and box type. Together they build a searchable public dataset of postal heritage.
What it is
After Queen Elizabeth II died, interest in how new Charles III boxes would appear led to a wider look at the network: Victorian, Edwardian, George V, and everything in between. Each cypher is a small piece of street-level history. PostboxMap grew from wanting one open, field-friendly place to document that, rather than scattered notes and private lists.
The map and data are open to everyone, with a public API for researchers and developers. Contributors add finds, photos, and corrections so the record improves over time.
