Privacy policy
MileLog (“the app”) is a private mileage logger for expense claims. It is designed to keep your data on your device. This policy explains what data is involved and how it is handled.
Who we are
The app is published by LukeDev.co.uk. Contact: contact@lukedev.co.uk.
Data we store
The following are stored only on your device (local storage and device settings). We do not operate an account system and we do not run a MileLog cloud backend for trip data.
- Trips (distance, rate, purpose, vehicle, business/personal)
- Optional trip photos you attach (odometer or receipt)
- Settings such as rate, units, vehicles, categories, and reminder preference
- Whether you unlocked Pro on this device
Data we collect
For normal use we collect no personal data off your device. There is no advertising network or tracking ads in the app, and we do not sell personal data. MileLog does not file claims with HMRC or your employer.
Location
If you start a GPS trip, MileLog uses location while recording to estimate distance, including when the app is in the background with a live recording notification. Location points are processed on device and are not uploaded to a MileLog server. You can log miles manually instead.
Notifications
If you turn on the evening miles reminder, MileLog schedules a local notification on your device. That reminder is not sent through our servers.
Purchases
Pro unlocks are handled by Apple App Store or Google Play. Purchase validation may involve the store operator under their own privacy policies. MileLog does not receive your full payment card details.
Optional export
If you choose to export your data (where that feature is available), the export file is created on your device and shared only by you through the system share sheet or your own file tools. We do not receive a copy.
Permissions
- Location – only while a trip is recording (including background with a live notification). Processed on device.
- Camera / photos – optional odometer or receipt photos attached to a trip. Stored locally unless you export.
- Notifications – optional evening miles reminder. Local only.
- Biometrics / device credential – optional app lock. Authentication stays on device via the OS.
Children
MileLog is not directed at children under 13.
Your rights (UK GDPR)
Because core trip data never leaves your device, you control it directly: delete trips in the app, turn reminders off, revoke location, camera, or photo permissions in system settings, or uninstall the app to remove local data. For privacy questions, email contact@lukedev.co.uk.
UK data protection
Because trip data stays on your device and is not collected by a MileLog server, we do not operate a cloud database of your mileage. If that changes in a future version, this policy will be updated before any such change ships.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update the date above. Material changes will be reflected in the App Store and Play Store listings where required.
